Good-Bye

Sir Lancelot
2005-2013

On Thursday, May 2, we made the much hard decision of saying Good-bye to our handsome boy. The previous weekend he started panting and licking a lot, which seemed to show he was in pain, and one spot on the end of his last surgery line seemed to not be doing well. Rather than subject him to more probing which also causes him to go lame at the vet, we felt it was best to let him rest.

My heart breaks as I try to pull up the few good memories we were able to have during the much much too short of time he was with us. Many friends have encouraged us, reminding us that we gave him a good home and tons of love during this last part of his life and he knows that. Yet, it is still hard to accept that we had way too little time with him. I want to be angry, but no where to shoot those bullets, so I just keep praying that he knows we did what we thought best for him these last 5 months.

We know he is now playing with Sasha and Max and many other furries that went ahead to Rainbow Ridge.

Run, sweet Lancelot, Run!! WE LOVE YOU!!

"The pain now is part of the happiness then."

I am so, so sorry for your loss of your beautiful Lancelot. No words can make you feel better. You absolutely did the best thing for your boy. You were very lucky to have had him to love for 5 months, even being so short, and Lancelot was in return lucky to have parents who loved him so much and took care of him. You thought of him when you made your decision, and that is the best thing a dog parent can do for them. My heart goes out to you and your family.

So sorry to hear about your loss! It’s been a long time since I signed in and checked on my Dane friends, and this is the first thing I see. Princeton sends you a doggy kiss. He just turned 5 and I will post his birthday photos in a few minutes. Your beloved Lancelot waits for you now at the Rainbow Bridge…

We're so sorry for your loss. Your time with him was too short, but his quality of life during that time was filled with love.

We're not keeping up very well with our friends and just saw this sad news. We are so very sorry Lancelot has crossed the Bridge, but we're happy the end of his life was filled with love and peace and excellent care. He'll always live on in your hearts.

Ohhhh....we're finally catching up witih blog friends again after a long time - things have been really busy with overseas visitors & Hsin-Yi working like mad to finish her novel - but oh, we're so sad to see this! Lancelot was such a gorgeous, special boy. We know it's not easy but please, please don't feel bad - he really had such a wonderful time with you and was so loved, even if it was such a short time. We're sure he knew and felt it and it was the best he could have asked for in his final days. We think you made the unselfish decision by letting him go peacefully, rather than trying to hang on to him and prolonging his pain.

Anyway, just want to let you know that we're thinking of you!

Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane (& Hsin-Yi)
